SMUD Tiny House Competition

ASLA CA Sierra Chapter was honored to be a sponsor and collaborator for the Inaugural SMUD Tiny House competition. Along with assisting with the design, planting, and layout of the Tiny House Village’s “Town Square”, the chapter set up our Park-in-a-POD to provide a place to sit, relax, eat, and enjoy the competition event atmosphere. The one-day event drew over 18,000 people, far above the 3,000-5,000 that were forecast. ASLA’s participation in the event was heralded by SMUD event organizers as a critical component contributing to the overall success of the event.

From SMUD Website:

“The Tiny House Competition – Build Small and Win Big” is a new competition in the Sacramento region, challenging collegiate teams to design and build net-zero, tiny solar houses.  The event, held Saturday, October 15 at Cosumnes River College, was open to all colleges and universities in California. Participation promoted an interest in energy conservation, energy efficiency and green building and solar technologies. SMUD’s Energy Education & Technology Center and Community Solar programs were proud to sponsor this event.
