Allyship in the Workplace - DxLA Lunch Lecture

Event Information

Allyship is the actions, behaviors, and practices that we can take to support, amplify, and advocate with other people, especially with individuals who don’t belong to the same social identity groups as each other.

Our two panelists, Zayn and April, will discuss the value of allyship in the workplace, how to foster allies, and how to be an ally.

Zayn is an LGBTQ+ community activist, speaker and educator representing the Transgender population in the Central Valley. Being a queer small business owner, FTM father of twins and drag entertainer all led the way to his involvement with local organizations, school districts, and non-profits over the last 9 years. Zayn is also the current Chair of the transgender-focused nonprofit Trans-E-Motion.

Zayn says that his biggest achievement thus far would have to be landing a documentary on Hulu, "showcasing a glimpse of my life, and being able to spread LGB and specifically T awareness for the world to see!"

April is an Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and advocate of the LGBTQ+ community, and works to create allies in all environments. April is also Treasurer of Trans-E-Motion.
